The Philadelphia Center on the Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights
The Philadelphia Center on the Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights was established in 1975 in the Department of Religion at Temple University by Franklin H. Littell, then Chairman of the Department. The Center was America's first interfaith Holocaust resource center. The Center established the interfaith, interdisciplinary, international model which has been emulated nationally and internationally. Originally known as The National Institute on the Holocaust the name was altered once President. Carter established the US Holocaust Memorial Council and the USHMM in Washington in the late 70's. Later the name was changed to the Anne Frank Institute and in 1989 to The Philadelphia Center on the Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights. The Center sponsors the Annual Scholars' Conference on the Holocaust & the Churches.
